Morning, Afternoon & Sunset Adventures
Both of our schooners are available for Morning, Afternoon and Sunset Sails.
Our morning, afternoon and sunset sails are designed to get everybody involved, and no sailing experience is required. From the moment we get under way you'll be invited to help raise the sails, take a turn at the wheel, or just sit back and relax.
These sails are limited to 6 passengers, and can be private or public. Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by a responsible adult. These sails are not recommended for children under 5 years old.
Offshore Adventures
The Offshore Adventures are multi-day sailing trips designed to create more competent, confident sailors. Improve your sailing skills and experience night sailing, standing watches and sailing offshore in varying weather conditions.
Under the command of a licensed captain, trainees will actively participate in the operation of the ship. They will live, cook, eat and sleep on board the Abbey Road or Zeeto while exploring Lake Superior. By the end of a voyage they will know the fundamentals of how to sail a schooner.
We have room for 6 trainees over the age of 18, (or 13 and over accompanied by a parent or guardian) who are willing to stand watch, tend the sails, and steer by the stars as we transit Lake Superior overnight and explore distant shores. We highly recommend you have some prior sailing experience to prepare for this long-distance cruise.
Family Multi-Day Adventures
Both of our schooners are available for multi-day overnight Family Adventure Sails with up to six Family Members and Friends.
You’re welcome to participate as much, or as little, as you like. Take the wheel, plot the course, raise the sails and crank winches; we’re happy to teach you about sailing! These trips can be customized to suit your desires.
Depending on the length of the trip, we may explore the islands, sea caves, beaches, or lighthouses of the Apostle Islands archipelago. On overnight trips, we will anchor for the night in protected bays or tie up to a dock.
Youth Group Adventures
Designed for School, Church, Scout and Other Youth Groups, these trips require teamwork which fosters acceptance of others, cultivates personal responsibility and builds leadership skills.
Under the command of a licensed captain, and with the assistance of the groups adult leaders, up to six youth trainees will actively participate in the operation of the ship. They will live, eat and sleep on board the Abbey Road while exploring the Apostle Islands. By the end of a voyage they will know the fundamentals of how to sail a 60' schooner.
These multi-day voyages may be physically and emotionally challenging for some participants although not dangerous. As controlled risks are overcome, trainees discover hidden strengths, acquire new skills and increase self-confidence.
